Biography
Jonas
Jonas's seems more intelligent and perceptive than many of his peers, and he thinks more seriously than they do about life. He's also curious, thoughtful, and rebellious. What Jonas does is he becomes the Reciever and has to hold all the memories that people in the community can't hold.
The Giver is a strange mix of a mentor, grandfather, friend, and even an accomplice. An old man with a bunch of books and more imagery in his brain. The Giver technically holds all the memories of pain and pleasure, but gives them to the new Reciever (Jonas).

Jonas's younger sister. She is a typically impatient child with straightforward, fairly simple feelings.
A newchild (infant) who begins spending nights with Jonas' family unit because he needs extra attention and care. He does not sleep through the night and is not gaining weight as fast as the other newchildren. He doesn't do much but Jonas saves his life and loves him.
Gabriel
Jonas' best friend. Asher is a cheerful, friendly boy who makes a game out of everything. At the Ceremony of Twelve, he is assigned to be Assistant Director of Recreation, so he does that.
