
Awards and Accolades

The John Newbery Medal was awarded to the novel, The Giver, which was wrriten by Lois Lowry. The John Newbery Medal: A literary award given by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association.
The William Allen White award was also awarded. It's a set of two annualawards for books selected by vote of Kansas schoolchildren from lists prepared by committee.
